Dating Ideas for Teens
73When you first start dating, the excitement of having a new boyfriend or girlfriend can be overwhelming. However, as your relationship progresses, it is important to have some ideas for where you are going to spend all your time. Typically, the girl likes when a guy is able to come up with new and exciting ideas for a date. It's also refreshing not to go to the movies every single weekend or date night. Below are some tips that are geared towards the younger generation, but that more established couples may find interesting as well. Personally, I have tried a majority of the things on this list and can confirm that they are actually fun. But, everyone is different, so if you have any additional ideas, please leave them in the comments! I want to hear from others too.
Be sure to read about dating a friend, and whether or not it's a good idea.

First Dates
- The Movies - This is the classic date night for first dates. Dinner and a movie is probably the most common of first date adventures. However, if you are looking to not follow the crowd, the ideas below will work too.
- Bowling - A first date can be slightly awkward since you're just getting to know one another. Bowling provides a great mix of activity with talking so that you aren't always looking for words as you sit together, but still have time to talk too.
- Music Event - If you both like a band or particular artist, then go see them in concert. This may be an expensive route, so be sure you're willing to pay the price before you invite your new girlfriend to the Taylor Swift concert, not realizing it costs $300 a ticket.
- Mini-Golf - This is another date that doesn't require constant communication, making it easier during the first date.
All Those Other Dates
- All of the Above - All of the date ideas listed above are also wonderful ideas for second, third, and hundredth dates too! While the options below can work on a first date, they are better suited to when you know your date a little better.
- Go over each other's house - There's nothing like snuggling on the sofa and watching a movie together.
- Fix dinner - Fixing dinner together is a great way to bond and enjoy a great meal (assuming you don't burn something).
- Have a game night - bring board games over each other's houses and play something that let's you get to know each other. I like truth or dare, with more truths than dares. Any game that gets you to talk is good.
- Have a picnic - Take a lunch to a local park and eat in the outdoors
- Take a hike together - This is more for the nature oriented but I'm sure everyone would enjoy a short hike around a lake at sunset.
- Walk through the mall - Go shopping! Girl's will love it. Guys, maybe not so much. But if you really want to prove to your woman that she should be with you, shop with her.
- Walk through some other store - It sounds weird, I know. But once you try it, it can actually be fun to walk through Target or some store like that and just talk and look at stuff.
- Watch the stars - It may sound cheesy, but take a blanket outside at night and look at the stars together.
- Go on a mini "day-cation" - Take a day trip some where like a nearby city and look around.
- Get ice cream and go for a walk - You have to burn those extra calories off, so why not go for a walk too?
- Drive around - If you don't know what to do for a date, and you're together, get in the car and drive around. Maybe something will come up, and if not, you can talk and listen to music.
- Go to parties together - go to parties at mutual friend's houses, or introduce your date to your friends.
- Visit a grandparent in a nursing home - It's actually a humbling experience to visit people in a nursing home, and I'm sure the grandparent would love visitors.
- Volunteer together - Pick somewhere to help out and go! Soup kitchens, clothing banks, etc. all need as much help as they can get and you can bond in the process.
- Go to church - If you are religious, or if one or the other is, go to church together.
- Sporting events - If your date plays a sport, watch one of his or her games. If not, go somewhere together for the evening.
- Support each other - If your date is involved with a music performance, dance recital, etc., go and watch. It may be uncomfortable to sit and watch something that you aren't completely interested in, but just going means a lot to the other person.
- A day on the lake - If you live near water, go for a boat ride or some other water sport.
- Go swimming - Either visit a pool, or, if you are close enough, the beach.
- Dance - Swing dancing is actually growing in popularity (at least where I live). If you haven't tried it, do something new and take a chance at it.
- Community activities - Lots of town paper's list weekend activities a few days ahead of time. If so, check it out, and make plans for the weekend.
- Be spontaneous - If you know your date is home, and not doing something else, drive over and surprise him or her. Technically, I would only do this if you know your date and his or her parents well enough.
Hopefully these ideas get you through enough weekends to get to know your date well. If you have any ideas, please add them in the comments.
